My debut publishing comes in the Lemon Tree Writers four-hander chapbook ‘Warm Shadows’ along with Marie Joaquim, Helen Elizabeth Ramsey and Martin Walsh.
My contributions to the collection are three poems – ‘Temperance i’ and ‘Temperance ii’, sonnets concerning the ‘evils of alcohol’, and ‘Dad’s Last Dance’, a (I’m glad to say) fictional account of a terminally ill former dancer’s last moments – and a short story – ‘The Turn of the Scrooge’ where I try to pinpoint the exact point that Dickens’ favourite Ebenezer Scrooge turns from being a coy young apprentice to a hard-nosed miser. You may be surprised by who talks him into it!
I joined Lemon Tree Writers in early 2011 and have found the support the group gives me and my writing invaluable. It’s a great pleasure to be part of their latest publication.
